Pledge Your Dreams

Last year, I pledged my dream of publishing my first book of poems on the Shemagurls BlogTalk Radio Show hosted by my friends Kat and Nita the creators of the Shemagurls Social Network.

Since then, I've been up and down on my journey to accomplish my dream. I really appreciate my family, and friends for their continued support, and encouragement to help me keep moving forward to finish my goal.

Staying Focused

Last year, I pledged my dream to published my first book of poems by March 2010, and so far I am on track with my progress.

However,in the beginning of my journey it was so hard for me to stay focused on what I wanted to accommplish, and I stumbled, and fall repeatedly. Though, after I started writing down my objectives, and using my voice recorder daily I finally got my focus back, and started making progress.

Stay focused on your Dreams

It is the second month of 2010, and we have to stay motivated to follow our dreams, and goals. I know it gets hard to stay focus on your journey because family issues, the job, and just feeling tired, or stressed, but we have to grab that sparkle of motivation within ourselves to keeping moving forward on our goals.

If your dream is important to you, you should be pursuing it. In order to accomplish your dreams you need to START making progress first. If you do not, then your dreams and goal will just remain a THOUGHT in your mind.

Get focused! Take the time to WRITE DOWN all the steps you think it will take for you to accomplish your dreams, or goals, also include the Date you want to have your dreams, and goal accomplished. However, do not include the cost of anything yet.

After you get your list prepared, keep looking over it for a couple of days, and then start to "fine-tune" this list by organizing, eliminating, and/or adding steps to get a clearer idea of what you need to focus on to begin your journey.

You may realize through this list you created that it might only take one phone call, or one class, or something very simple to get you moving in the right direction of fulfilling your dreams.

~Believe in it; It’s your dream~

Dedication to my Mother

A Dedication to My Mother
copyright 2009 Karen Brown

Mother...
a divine woman of character, you are
and simply by your compassion
I am captivated.

Your positive influence in my life
has given me hope in hard times,
and encouragement, when I didn't believe.

Your actions show the depth of your words
and you've made miracles happen
deep within my heart.

Each day, your radiance highlights
the spirit of a true mother
doing what's in her nature...
to nurture...
my mental, and spiritual growth.

You sacrificed your needs to fulfill mine,
made me strong through your strength,
self-sufficient through your independence,
loving through your nurturing,
and grateful through your prayers...

Through your life experiences, I am refined,
and I embrace your openness
to inspire me through your eyes.

Extraordinary, you are!
and I am blessed to be the receiver
of such an exceptional mother,
and I love you for it all.

I'm on Granny Duty

I am a Granny! I admit it! Oh, lawdy! Did I really say that? yes, it's true.

When I had my children I never really thought about the fact that eventually when they grew up they would have children...
which makes me, you know....GRANDMA:)

My beautiful grandson is now 1 years old, and I am 1 year older then I was before.

During the first year I have relearned how to change a diaper,"gugu-gaga", make a bottle, find a pacificer, coach a burp out, sing nursery songs, grab the diaper bag without forgetting to grab my own purse, whew! the list goes on.

Being on Granny duty requires strategic planning, nerves of steel, multi-tasking, bonic ears, and eyes, and legs, and giving a lot of love.

I love my lil' Doda, but being on Granny duty is not an easy task but it has it's rewards because I'm able to watch him grow, teach him things, and he brightens my day with his smile, and his dancing as he loves music! I even named the lil dance he does-"Do the Doda". I'm going to get it on vid and post it soon.

~Yes, I'm on Granny Duty! Are you?~

A Round of Applauses goes out to all the Grandmothers on Granny Duty!
We are the best!

Soul Mate

Not seeking, but hoping to find,
not ready, but right on time,
not easy, but sharp in the mind,
not fitted, but formed just fine,
not unique, but one of a kind.
